Our mission is to encourage people to create projects that make the world better.
Work shares in the work of the Creator
St. John Paul II wrote in Laborem Exercens that man, made in the image of God, shares in the work of the Creator through his own labor. The talents we receive are meant to bear fruit. We want to help inventors and makers use those talents to build things that solve real problems and serve their neighbors, for the glory of God.
Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men.
What we do
- We build open tools that make it easier to go from an idea to a working project.
- We encourage people to develop the gifts God has given them, and to see their projects through to the end.
- We give priority to projects that respect human dignity and serve the common good.
Saint Joseph the Worker
We put this work under the care of Saint Joseph the Worker. He was a carpenter in Nazareth, the guardian of the Holy Family, and he taught his trade to the Son of God. Today the Church honors him as her Patron. His life shows that ordinary work, done well and offered to God, can become holy, and that is the kind of work we want to do.
Prayer to Saint Joseph the Worker
O Glorious Saint Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work in a spirit of penance for the expiation of my many sins; to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my natural inclinations; to work with thankfulness and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop by means of labor the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, moderation and patience, never shrinking from weariness and trials; to work above all with purity of intention and detachment from self, keeping unceasingly before my eyes death and the account that I must give of time lost, talents unused, good omitted, and vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God.
All for Jesus, all through Mary, all after thy example, O Patriarch, Saint Joseph. Such shall be my watch-word in life and in death. Amen.
